CJ Clips Journal for March 1, 2006

That is how I thought of this load as I saw it being loaded. (There's 30 tons on that truck!)

Truly, I am expecting it to bring life!

First we loaded 485 bags of HEPS for the Feeding Program in the Alpha Community Schools.

Then 375 bags of maize were loaded which will be distributed to the starving people in Champheta. Lastly, 521 Seedlings Seedbags were loaded for the Grade 5 students in the Alpha Community Schools.

I continue to receive reports of Spiritual lives being changed through the Seedlings Program.

Also, the schools and parents continue to be thankful for the life-enhancement they find in their children through the Feeding Program.

Now I am expecting to hear of actual lives saved through the distribution of maize in Champheta.

Champheta is one of the communities in which we have a Seedlings Program in Eastern Province and is thus also a part of the School Feeding Program. In December of 2005, as an attempt at an exit program to the feeding program and as relief for the partial drought that was experienced in Zambia during the 2004/5 growing season, thanks to ERDO, we were able to distribute some seed and fertilizer to the families of the children in the Alpha Community Schools. Recently I received news that when relief food was available in the Champheta area for distribution from the Zambian Government, Champheta families were left out by the local people doing distribution because, "you received seed and fertilizer." Unfortunately, that seed and fertilizer will do no good to the people until harvest in May or June and they are starving now...literally...there have been reports of people fainting because of having no food to eat. Right now, I am told, most people have left their homes, leaving only the children there who are eating HEPS at school each day, while others go in the bush looking for roots or whatever food they can find. So I sent an SOS off to ERDO, to see if there was any chance of getting some food to these people for the next three months. ERDO has responded and food is on its way. However, since we already have two Canada Foodgrains Bank projects with the same people group, ERDO felt they were not able to go back to CFGB for help with this project. Thus, ERDO has sent an appeal out to the churches. Attached please find that bulletin and if you feel as if you are able to help in this project, please contact them directly, in the manner stated. As I said, I am fully expecting to hear that lives have been saved through this relief! You could be a part of that!
