Praise Report for July 17, 2002Peace in the city (& country)! All is quiet in Zambia today after last night's announcement of the unanimous decision by Parliament to lift the Presidential immunity of former President Frederick Chiluba. This evening President Levy Mwanawasa addressed the nation. He thanked the people of Zambia for displaying their support of him and his government and their fight against corruption. He reiterated that his "New Deal" government has a zero tolerance to corruption. He thanked Parliament for listening to and acting upon the wish of the people. An appeal was made for the people now to remain calm and patient and allow the law to do its work.
