Praise Report for March 04, 2003

In the early morning hours of this morning, my prayer was, "Lord, I need to get in touch with George Phiri today." I just spoke to someone who said he would get a message to George today. It all happened in a way that I didn't expect. God is so good! I called someone who wanted to send something to George when we travel to his place this week and he gave me a contact which I did not know of...a man at the bank in Lundazi who lives near to George and can get a message to him. You see, this George Phiri, who is the Director of the 13 Alpha Schools where we hope to start a feeding program is a very hard man to get in touch with. He lives in a place called Kamtolo. No telephones in Kamtolo, or even Lumezi which is about 20 minutes away. George has to travel about an hour to Lundazi, from where he can call me. So I have to just sit around and wait till he calls me. Now my prayer is that George will call quickly and things will come together for us to be able to visit as many schools as possible.

Thank you for praying about our trip last week to Liwesa. I know, I know, you are puzzled and asking, "Liwesa?" "We were praying for your trip to Chipandaike." Well, plans changed. It was Chipandaike which first requested for a church to be planted but apparently there has been some confusion and it was decided the best place to go was Liwesa. There is also a community school in Liwesa where we hope to start Seedlings classes later this year. Pastor Golden Mawele, the missions pastor from Ebenezer Assembly in Kabwe came along to meet with the community people. After a long journey, getting stuck in a mud hole before finding the wonders of 4 wheel drive, crossing 2 streams, going through several muddy spots and many grass covered roads (if you can call it road???) we reached Liwesa and were able to meet first with the school children and then the community people. Thanks to Pastor Mawele who was not afraid to get out in the mud to engage the 4 wheel drive and to direct me through the streams. He also did a wonderful job of meeting the delegation requesting that a church be planted in their community. The delegation included two head women (Nduna) so we are assured that a church will be welcome in the community.

Pastor Mawele went back to the missions committee at Ebenezer and has now called to say that they are ready to move ahead with planting a church in Liwesa. They will wait till it stops raining (smart move!) and in April or so intend to send about 4 people in for about three weeks to live with the people of the area, to foster relationships and do some ministry work. Thanks for your prayers. I don't think we would have made the trip had it not been for your prayers. We were late reaching the place and the people were beginning to think we would not make it because of the road. Your prayers made it possible and we didn't disappoint the people by not showing up. Please continue to pray for this church planting effort.
