Praise Report for July 29, 2007Waking up in my own nice and firm bed, a hot shower, blow-dried and curling iron-curled hair but BEST OF ALL...NO NEED TO GET INTO A VEHICLE AND DRIVE DOWN ANY ROAD! Yes, how sweet it was this morning! Over the past 2 weeks, I managed in the 4 different beds I slept in. I kept clean, be it by bucket bath or cold shower. The hair didn't look all that great but manageable. Yes, it really was EVERY DAY up and on the road, over some very challenging roads...2,355 kilometers of them! Was it worth the inconveniences? the difficulties? the challenges? Of course it was...if I was able to touch just one child with the love of Jesus Christ, it was well worth it. Perhaps that one child was little Margaret Phiri in the Katete Community School. Margaret found herself in the wrong line-up so when we came to the end of the list of those born in 2000 to be weighed and measured, Margaret was left over. Feeling rather alone and left out, Margaret's little hand soon found it's way into the closest hand...mine. So off we went to search for which line she really belonged in. We were directed to the 1992 line. Somehow I doubted that. She was just too little to have been born in 1992. After weighing and measuring all the children born in 1992, there again was Margaret, left all alone. Once again that little, lonely hand was shyly slipped into mine. Again, off we went in search of the correct line. I didn't see her after that but I am hoping that she will remember the touch of the white woman as being a touch that said, "You are important and God loves you." Would you please pray that each of the children in the feeding program would realize they are receiving this care because there is a God in Heaven who loves them and most importantly, that they would turn their lives over to Him? Thanks for praying for protection on the roads during the trip. I think we managed with no dents or damage to the Village of Hope vehicle other than a few scratches by roadside branches and children at schools. Sorry Sergio...please forgive? Seems vehicles, especially those covered in dust, make great blackboards! Yesterday as I approached the site of the accident, I was thinking (and of course slowing down and taking extra care) of "that day". My thoughts brought me to the realization that we were passing exactly 4 months after the accident. There we were, passing at nearly the same time of the day, on the last Friday of July. The accident took place on the last Friday of March. So once again, I was filled with thanksgiving for a safe journey. This time it was especially so since we had seen the evidence of so many accidents on the road as we travelled. So again, I was reminded of the greatness of God for saving us on that day 4 months ago and of His greatness in giving us a safe journey on this trip. Praise God! Blessings to you, Thanks to you for praying. Please keep on praying! Cheryl Ann Johnson
