Prayer Request for August 01, 2009

One never knows what a day might bring. Yesterday afternoon I sat visiting in my living room with Elizabeth Sakala. During the conversation we spoke of the health and living conditions of her in-laws and how the family was wanting to move them from the village. The father-in-law (Bishop Harrison Sakala's Father) has been sick and in Lusaka for treatment. His wife came to join him because he had been here for a long time. They were getting ready to go back to Eastern Province soon.

This morning I received an SMS from Elizabeth saying her mother-in-law (Mother of Bishop Harrison Sakala) had a heart attack and passed away about 11:00 last night. What a shock to everyone. She was not the sick one! It all happened very suddenly and really, everyone is just in shock. Plan is for the convoy with the body to leave Lusaka at 4:00 AM to travel to Eastern Province for the burial. I had decided it might be nice to go to the burial...when I thought departure was 8:00 Monday morning. Still I thought it would be nice to go and kindly I was given the reprieve of having an 8:30 departure tomorrow morning...waiting for part of the tombstone to be finished.

Your prayers would be greatly appreciated. First, please pray for the grieving and shocked family, especially Bishop Sakala and his father. Elizabeth said that the father is just wandering around like he is in shock. Imagine what it would be like for an 88 year-old man to loose his 77 year-old wife of 64 years. That is no small loss! Also please pray for safety for all those who will travel the long distance to Eastern Province and back again in the next couple days.

Blessings!

Cheryl Ann
