Update for October 25, 2002Different bed...different country...again! I am back in South Africa for my quarterly MET bookkeeping trip. It is getting tricky, trying to keep track of which accounts are getting done in what way in what place. This trip I had to bring along some work for the Introductory Bookkeeping course which I am teaching at TTC. I return to Lusaka on Friday and Sunday I drive up to Kitwe. So there is some preparation and marking that needs to get done before then. Please pray that I will get that and the MET books done before next week Friday when I fly back to Lusaka. Different car. Yesterday a little Opel was delivered to the MET Center as the replacement for the Venture which was stolen the last time I was here. Nice little car. I only found one problem...it has only one pedal. It seemed rather high and far to reach with the left foot but I thought, "Just have to get used to the different touch." Then I went to put the right foot on the brake and found myself stepping on my left foot...rather strange! Finally I realized the problem...it is an automatic! Haven't driven one of them for awhile. That is going to take some getting used to! Different Africa. Yesterday I was thankful for my international cellphone. After waiting at the airport for about a half an hour and still no Gerald to pick me up I sat myself down to change from my Zambia SIM card to my South Africa SIM card. Poor Gerald, he was stranded on the road with a broken gas line and waiting for someone to come to tow him back to Pretoria. So I had to get a taxi to Pretoria...not the regular clunker taxi I am used to in Africa, this one was a BMW, a new one, in good shape too! Wow! It impressed me! It cost me too, but what can you do when your ride is stranded on the roadside?
