Update for July 23, 2004Surprise, surprise! Here I am back in Africa. The only thing wrong with this picture is that I am only here for one month. It seems to be taking longer than expected to raise that budget so I am going to have to spend a longer time in Canada than anticipated. However, there were a couple projects here in Zambia that needed attention, so ERDO sent me back to Zambia for the month of July. Thank you ERDO! Reg Parks and Dave and Nancy Seiling joined me for the past week in Kitwe to do some filming for the video presentation to be included in the Good Soil Dinner Theatre presentations that will be given across Canada in the next year. This evening Reg flew out and tomorrow Dave and Nancy and I head off for the real challenging part of the journey...Eastern Province. That is where we meet the challenging roads and conditions. We will be doing an assessment of the feeding program and hopefully seeing the feeding program in action. I say "hopefully" because just this evening when I returned to Lusaka, I heard that the truck with the HEPS has not yet left Lusaka...that means no food for the children and no George to show me around to the schools. Ideal situation? Definitely not! Should one expect ideal? Never! Why? This is Africa! Isn't it the challenge we enjoy? Not really...we just learn to live with it. And we still love Africa!
