Update for December 30, 2005

Never in my life have I turned heads so much or been eyed with such suspicion or such admiration, as on the maiden voyage of the Dream Machine! Heads literally turned as I drove by. It felt as if the police eyed me suspiciously, wondering if this poor missionary was REALLY the owner of such a fine machine. At every stop the admiration abounded. At the first filling station the conversation went something like this...Said the man in the nice but dated Land Cruiser, "Nice vehicle. Want to trade?" Said Cheryl Ann, "Um, not today." That offer was actually made a few times on the trip.

The Dream Machine drove like a dream. I made the trip to Chipata in record time. MOSTLY that is due to the fact that it could take the hills at full speed. However, it also does attain a high speed very quickly. Back in Lusaka the policemen with their radar guns have found that out. Already I have made a donation of K67,500 to the Republic of Zambia. There will be no mercy for the white woman in such a beautiful (and undoubtedly expensive) vehicle. So I thought. However, on my quick trip to Kitwe just before Christmas, mercy was indeed granted and no further donation was required. Since then I have been trying very hard to control that runaway Dream Machine!

The latest comment was when the driver of a small pick-up got out of his vehicle parked by the Dream Machine and said, "I've parked the toy beside the real truck." Yes, it is a real truck and I still consider it a real miracle. It still amazes me when I open my door in the morning and there it sits! Thank God and Thank You to the many who helped make this dream come to pass.

Sorry! I have no kids to talk or brag about...I guess you are just going to have to put up with hearing about my Dream Machine!

Tomorrow I head out in someone else's Dream Machine. I get to try out the Kerr's Isuzu, as I will be travelling to Malawi with them for the Southern Africa Regional Missionary Retreat. Please pray for safety as missionaries travel from all over Southern Africa to attend this retreat. Also please pray for a visitation from the Lord at the retreat. I'm looking forward to the ministry of Harvey Trauter from CLA in Langley. Pray that God will give him the message for the hour.

After retreat it is back to Lusaka to pack up, move, and clean house in order to turn the house over to the landlord who has given me notice as his family is moving back to Zambia after 10 years working outside Zambia. I am to be out of the house by January 15, 2006. Still I do not have a new place to go to. Please pray for God's direction and open doors!

Have a Wonderful New Years and a Blessed 2006!
