Update for May 30, 2009After several months of yearning, it has finally happened. This morning I woke up in Zambia! Thank you to "Sew Inclined" from WECA for the beautiful quilt that kept me warm through the cool Zambian May night! Yes, it fit in the suitcase and made it to Zambia and indeed was enjoyed on the very first night. Thank you to Brenda for the slippers that are keeping my feet cosy and warm. Are you getting the message? It is kind of cold here in Lusaka! American Assemblies of God friends were at the airport yesterday bright and early to pick me up and take me home. Home seemed strange but familiar when I walked in. Two different families have lived in my home since I left it in September, 2008 so it did look a bit different. This morning when I woke up it looked quite familiar and "comfortable" once again. Lunch time yesterday found me at a new eating place in town, meeting with several missionaries. What a joy to see them again. I am told there is a formal "Welcome Back Cheryl" this evening, where I will meet with more of the missionary family. How nice! Nancy Clark, my American Assemblies of God friend took me to Zain and patiently waited while I tried to get my cellphone working once again and to arrange for temporary internet service. Internet service I managed...hopefully the cellphone issue will be settled today. I should be heading out soon to do that and then to meet with the Wrights to find out how much I owe them for all the things they covered for me while I was gone. I'm afraid that list got longer than expected! Last night I cried with Mutemwa and Bridget, the couple who works for me. When I left, Bridget was pregnant. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on October 6, who I was looking forward to meeting. Unfortunately that wasn't to be, as Natalie died on April 6. So last night we cried together. Today we will do our best to move forward. Please pray for Bridget and Mutemwa as they continue to mourn the loss of little Natalie. Also please pray for wisdom for them as they attempt to deal with Matildah, their four-year-old. Seems since the death of Natalie, Matildah, who loved her nursery school and was doing very well has given up interest in school. She doesn't want to go to school and does not participate when she does go to school. This is a big concern to Bridget and Mutemwa and they are struggling with how to deal with it. Now begins the process of "getting back into things" here in Zambia. There is the unpacking and getting settled into my home once again. There is the connecting with people once again. Soon there must be visitation and Seedlings Distribution in the schools. There will be busy days ahead. Please pray that God will give me direction and the strength to do all that needs to be done. This morning as I was praying, I sensed a real desire to see God do SOMETHING NEW in this term. I don't really know what that is but I don't want to do just "the same old, same old". I want to see SOMETHING NEW!!! So please pray with me that God will lead and direct and that truly we will see SOMETHING NEW in this term. Now it is time to get familiarized once again with the Miracle Machine and driving on the other side of the road...I'm sure you are praying for protection as I drive!
